Creating art through fashion is the basis of the RuffleRuffle design vision. The aesthetic is clean but feminine, always with textile based detailing and unusual fabric combinations. Ruffle uses materials ranging from chiffon, silk and wool through to leather, plastic and metal to produce unexpected twists on beautifully cut clothes.
After graduating with a first class degree in BA Hons Fashion, Jodie Ruffle interned for Jonathan Saunders and spent a year working as a design assistant at Alexander McQueen. After this she became assistant to up and coming designer, Jade Kang (Fashion Fringe finalist) before deciding to set out on her own venture in fashion, creating ‘RuffleRuffle’.
Having grown up in the Kentish countryside, nature often plays a part in influencing shapes, details and textures. Balance is always an important part of Ruffle’s vision; she constantly plays with the idea of juxtaposing rigid and delicate elements. Harsher, more structured silhouettes are often combined with light, airy decoration and softer garments are given an edge with structured panels, dense embellishment or corseted sections.
Collections incorporate drape and tailoring in equal measures, which when combined with Ruffle’s emphasis on ornate detailing, results in a uniquely feminine and sexy but playful look.
